Yellow Fever Vaccination For Visitors To Tanzania Is Mandatory!

Recently, the Government of the Republic of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Social Welfare, issued a notification that the Health Surveillance Desks, which were abolished way back in the year 2001, will be reinstated in all entry points - border posts, ports and international airports. Tanzania happens to be among the countries that are at risk of being affected by the yellow fever. The health officials have therefore been instructed to deal with the control and prevention of yellow fever with regard to international travelers coming from yellow fever endemic areas. This directive is actually as a result of an advise from the World Health Organization on the same issue.

As Tanzania is among countries which are at risk of been infected by  yellow fever, Health Officials have been instructed to deal with the control and prevention of YELLOW FEVER for international travellers  coming from infected countries and other emerging and re-emerging International notifiable diseases.

Yellow Fever Endemic Zone in Africa includes Senegal, Gambia,  Guinea  Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote D'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana,  Nigeria, Mali, Niger, Chad, Central African Republic, Togo, Benin, Sao Tome, and Principe, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, United Republic of Tanzania, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Somali, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea.

Yellow Fever Endemic Zone in America includes Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana and Bolivia.

For example

  • I fly directly with CONDOR from Frankfurt/ Germany to KIA. Do I need a vaccination? NO
  • I fly from Frankfurt with Ethiopian Airways via Addis Ababa to KIA, thereby having a few hours stop in Addis and possibly changing the plane. Do I need the vaccination, although this is one booking? I dont leave the airport, but the question is how do the people at the Immigration office regard this. NO
  • I fly from Germany to Nairobi by Swiss Air and then take another flight with Precision Air to KIA. Do I need the vaccination, because it is two separate bookings? I don t leave the airport. NO
  • I fly from KIA to Zanzibar. Do I need a vaccination? NO

To all our travellers, the general message is that all visitors arriving from SOME infected countries will require proof of yellow fever vaccination before entering Tanzania.

Customer Testimonials

Niall told us:
Our group of 3 Irish lads would like to thank Bobby and our exceptional guide Mike for giving us an amazing Safari experience. We decided to go with the 4 night/5 day Serrengetti lodge package which was great value for money. It was great to have the freedom to stop and go as we wanted. Our guide knew his way around very well and was the ultimate professional. You will definately need a minimum of 2 days in the Serrengetti to enjoy the experience. The Lodge looking out over the Ngorongoro crater is the perfect place to wind up the safari. We did our safari around mid June and were lucky enough to drive right into the migration. The Safari season changes around mid June and the prices rise by 25% so we got great value compared to other travellers using other tour companys. I would reccomenend this tour company to anyone wanting a great Safari experience. Great stuff. Niall trantniall@yahoo.co.uk
