Tanzania, with one of the largest populations of wildlife in the world, is an animal paradise, and an ideal place to introduce your family to the vast array of African animals, and explore some of the national parks that Tanzania is famous for. We look for leopards in Tarangire National Park, before continuing to the Serengeti National Park, home to lions, zebras, gazelles, impala, buffalos and many more animals. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best wildlife viewing areas in the world, with over 30,000 animals and you may even see black rhinos. Our next stop is Manyara National Park, famous for its tree climbing lions, so keep your eyes peeled! Our tour ends back in Arusha, but you may like to add on a trip to the exotic spice island of Zanzibar, famous for the fascinating and ancient Stone Town, and palm fringed sandy beaches.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Arusha.
On arrival you will be picked up from the airport and taken to the lodge. Afternoon at leisure to relax before the start of the tour.

Arusha is a small African town nestled in the shadow of Mount Meru with commanding views of the mighty Kilimanjaro

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
This morning after breakfast, you will be picked up from the lodge in Arusha by your guide and driven to Tarangire National Park. In the afternoon we go on a game drive. Tarangire National Park gets its name from the river that threads its way through it. The park has one of the highest animal concentrations during the dry season. There are herds of elephants, buffalos, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, and Elands, and leopards can be seen all through the year. For the bird enthusiast, the park offers over 300 species of birds. The vegetation in Tarangire is primarily acacia, mixed woodland, dense elephant grass along the river and numerous baobab trees.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 3: Serengeti National Park.
In the early morning we continue to Serengeti National Park. We have a packed lunch and a game drive en route.

Serengeti National Park sprawls across 14.763 sq km (5.757 sq miles) and is Tanzania’s largest and most famous national park. The chief herbivore of the Serengeti is the wildebeest of which there are up to two million. The amazing annual migration of wildebeest herds is one of the biggest attractions of the Serengeti. It begins at the Serengeti National Park near the Kenyan border, when huge herds of wildebeests head for greener pastures in Kenya. Starting in April each year, these animals migrate across the Serengeti's southern plains accompanied by zebras, antelopes, gazelles, lions and tourists. The park is also famous for its lions, which can be tracked due to the fact that many have collars fitted with transmitters, as well as cheetah and large herds of giraffe.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Days 4 and 5: Serengeti National Park.
We spend the next two days on game drives in the morning and in the afternoon. The Serengeti is renowned for its annual wildebeest migration and large predator population. From February to May, a herd of over a million wildebeests migrate for the Western corridor of the park in search of greener pastures. Serengeti’s other common animals include lions, leopards, zebras, Thompson gazelles, impala, Grant’s gazelles and buffalos. Most of the park is open grassland broken by isolated granite kopies (hills) and patches of acacias woodlands.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater.
After breakfast and a morning game drive we depart for the Ngorongoro Crater. On route we stop at Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where the Leaky family discovered the “Early East African Man”. Those interested can visit the museum on site (own cost) before dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Being one of the largest calderas in the world, 20 km (12.4 miles) wide, 600m (1.968ft) tall, with a variety of animals and vegetation, Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most visited areas. The vegetation includes grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans and a freshwater lake and has been compared to Noahs Ark and the Garden of Eden.

You will have no trouble finding lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and many of the plains herbivores such as wildebeest, Thomson's gazelle, zebra and reedbuck, as well as thousands of flamingo wading in the shallows of Lake Magadi, the soda lake on the floor of the crater. Within the steep walls of the crater you will find considerable movement of animals and you may well come across local Masai tribes people, who have grazing rights here, tending their cattle.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater.
This morning we enjoy a half day game drive in the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the best Wildlife viewing areas where Black Rhinos can be seen in Tanzania. The crater at 2.286m above sea level is the largest unbroken Calderas in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls, it covers 260 sq kms and is home to over 30.000 animals, almost half of them being zebra and wildebeest. Ngorongoro is listed as a World Heritage site.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 8: Manyara National Park.
Today we depart for the Manyara National Park with a packed lunch en-route. Later in the afternoon we enter the park for a game drive around Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park is well known for its tree-climbing lions. The park covers 390 sq km and is a sanctuary to over 400 species of bird life that include pink flamingos, pelicans, storks, ibis and Egyptian geese. There is also a huge herd of buffalo and elephant.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 9: Manyara Narional Park to Arusha.
We depart for Arusha after breakfast, and on arrival you will be dropped off at our lodge to relax for the remainder of the day and try to remember all the animals seen on our wildlife adventure.

Customer Testimonials

Ravi Chana told us:
My Family of two adults & two Children (aged 15 and 10) thoroughly enjoyed our safari experience booked via Bobby Tours and Safaris in August 2010. The company were most helpful with making arrangements to suit our needs and to accomodate what we wanted within the short space of time we had. They were able to advise and arrange a 4 day safari taking in Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Due to late booking on our part the Lodges were not available so we opted for a basic camping trip (which I would thoroughly recommend, as long as you do not mind basic wash facilities). Despite not having any camping experience, or equipment, we really enjoyed the camping experience. Bobby tours had organised all the equipment for us within the price, so we had no worries about carrying our own equipment. The tour company provided us with a car, driver (Umari) and a cook (Macho). Umari was knowledgeable about the local areas, national parks and wildlife, and was very accomodating whenever we needed anything. Macho was great with providing us with Breakfast, Lunch, afternoon tea and Dinner (we even requested him to make us the local staple food of \'Ugali\' which he duely made). All in all this was a great family safari experience, and one which we would recommend to any family that is looking to have fun and enjoy three of the most beautiful places on earth. We would also recommend the use of Booby Tours & safaris. If you need to talk to this company give Jackson Adams or Kassim a call. We found they were able to answer any questions and arrange local hotels and flights too.

Doris Bigio told us:
